Fancy Jasper was created in 2020 to be a hub that champions Japan. It would be a place where we could share our combined insight on Japan as well as provide a spotlight on not so well known cultural movements, brands and much more. 

For the brand identity my aim was to keep it minimal at its core but have its own uniqueness about it. I decided to use a range of different shapes as the brand's leading visual as it symbolises the diverse range of content and topics that Fancy Jasper covers. Each shape represents a different aspect of culture, whether it be food, fashion, art, or travel, and together they form a cohesive identity that reflects the richness and diversity of our content. 

I used a selection of primary colours such as blue, yellow, green, and black to give a vibrant and bold feel to the design, while the simplicity of the shapes creates a sense of modernity and minimalism. The geometric font used for the logo further emphasises this modern and clean aesthetic.

The thin black borders used to divide the sections of the website were inspired by traditional Japanese screen dividers, called shoji.
